I was standing still on a small island
I knew everyone and I knew where everything was at
Until one day the water started rising
I couldn't catch my breathe
My life was flashing right before my eyes
Until I realized I could swim
I was going at a constant speed of 45 miles an hour
Until one day I woke up and everything was racing by me
And I couldn't keep going at the same pace
Now I'm left here hoping everything falls into place
You needed to wake up and start living at your own pace
No one should tell you you're out of this race
Walking running sleeping dreaming
You can't do this to yourself without remembering who you are
And what you wish to become
Life throws us off and off the path we were on for so long
Maybe it's because life knows that there's something better
Waiting at the end of the road less traveled; believe.
