days of our lives

there are days when i wish i wouldn't wake up
there are days in which i do not want to fall asleep
these are the days which surround me like an island and the days are the sun
these are the days that are to be most fun
when we look back on the past, i just wanna look back on the fun and be done

when there isn't a cloud in the sky
i am not the one outside
when there are thunderstorms and hail scattered across the sky
i wish you were here
when did i turn my back on the truth
when did i turn my back to my dreams
since when did this life become my virtual reality?

sometimes i live through lyrical lines
sometimes i am on top of the world
sometimes i am aware of who i may be hurting
sometimes i just don't give a damn

when we are young we have fun
when we are young we turn all wrong turns into right
when we make mistakes we blame the other person
when we look stupid we cuss you out
when were are young we're all just resisting the facts
the fact that this, this here and now will not and can not last forever

so take this face
take this body
take this lifestyle
take the carefree party life mindset
take it, take it for granted
because we are only as young as we think we may be

when it all falls away
red cups become wine glass
happy hour is actually obeyed
deadlines aren't rescheduled
when one night stands no longer make you famous
where will you be?
who will you be?
will you like you then?

remember all the fun you had
while you were young
remember life is about making mistakes and learning from them
just don't forget the person who lives within you
they're who you'll always be
now its time for people to see
who it is you'll always be--
young and free
with a few stories under your belt
you know you're meant to be
older wiser and free
